An article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer in 2009 that detailed the incredible neglect and cruelty occurring in Amish puppy mills in Holmes County Ohio,
To raise awareness in the public that buying dogs from pet shops and the Internet is not only a death sentence to a homeless dog, but feeds money into the horrific practice of puppy milling. If it's profitable, they'll keep doing it.
To raise awareness in whatever way I can that cruelty to animals in Ohio -- whether it's through puppy mills, neglect, or outright abuse -- will no longer be tolerated. Our laws in Ohio are freakishly weak when it comes to animal abuse and cruelty.
I'm a member of the Coalition to Ban Ohio Dog Auctions. Ohio is the only state east of the Mississippi to still allow dog auctions, a key puppy mill distribution channel. I am adopted puppies from a "rescue" that turned out to be puppy mill brokers.
