Write to Bob Evans requesting the switch to cage free eggs. Letter-writing campaigns do work.

Letters don't need to be long - 3 to 5 sentences even. Original is better.

A letter (preferably hand-written) explaining how issue is important to you & you would like to see Bob Evans shift to cage-free eggs.

Talking points:

- Every one of Bob Evans competitors - including Dennys, IHOP, Cracker Barrel, First Watch, and several others - have begun the switch to cage-free eggs

- Bob Evans uses 27 million eggs/yr. Going cage-free will translate into approximately 104,000 fewer hens in battery cages.

- Wendy's, (Ohio Co. too), began their shift to cage-free eggs solely because of the letters received from consumers.

- I saw Food, Inc. and was appalled

- Recall of 300 million eggs due to salmonella

- Concerns of salmonella? Intend to take your business elsewhere & tell others to do the same.

- BK switched 5% in 2007 - this translates to 20 million eggs, approx. 77,000 fewer hens in cages.

- Quizno's switched in 2010 - 1 million eggs/yr., approx. 3,800 fewer hens in battery cages.

- Denny's switched in 2008 - 2 million eggs/yr., approx. 7,700 fewer hens in cages.

- Compass Group (largest food provider in North America) switched in 2007 - 100 million eggs/yr., approx. 384,000 fewer hens in cages.

- Hellman's is switching all 350 million eggs/yr. - starting with "Light"; 35 million eggs/yr., approx. 134,000 fewer hens in cages.

No To Fur

Coach refuses to stop selling fur, despite knowing that animals in fur farms live in cramped, filthy conditions before they are bludgeoned, electrocuted, and sometimes even skinned alive. Animals trapped in the wild may suffer for days before trappers arrive to crush their chests or stomp or beat them to death.

Coach knows and still....request: Join the dozens of other top designers and retailers who have dumped fur: Polo Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Calvin Klein, Betsey Johnson, Gap Inc., Nike Inc. (including Cole Haan), and Liz Claiborne Inc. (including Juicy Couture and Coach competitor Kate Spade).

Millions of animals who are cruelly trapped, farmed, and killed for their fur every year around the world need your help now.

Please, please politely write a quick message/letter or phone: Coach CEO Lew Frankfort

Urge him to end Coach selling fur immediately and implement a fur-free policy.

Coach, Inc.

New York, NY 10001-1394

Update April 2013: Yesterday the Louisiana Court of Appeal issued its long-awaited opinion in Animal Legal Defense Fund v. State of Louisiana, holding that Michael Sandlin is ineligible for a permit to confine Tony the Tiger in a cage at the Tiger Truck Stop.

Although the court held that ALDF lacked standing to be a plaintiff in the case, it nevertheless confirmed that our clients–Louisiana residents and taxpayers–do have standing to challenge illegal actions by the government, in this case the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

In ruling on the merits, the court agreed with ALDF’s argument that Michael Sandlin cannot receive a grandfather permit to continue to keep Tony because Sandlin does not meet the legal requirements for such a permit. This is progress, though it is still unresolved.

Tony the Tiger: Send Tony to Sanctuary ! UPDATE.

Recently, the East Baton Rouge District Court granted the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s (ALDF) request for a permanent injunction that will prevent the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries from renewing the permit that allows the owner of the truck stop to display Tony.

When the permit ends in December of 2011, ADLF hopes to work with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to find a place where Tony can live in comfort, away from the smog and noise of the truck stop.

Read more:

Tony has been imprisoned at a truck stop for over 10 yrs. A Truck Stop is no place for a Tiger.

Michael Stalin possesed an owner's permit on Tony , a tiger kept at a truck stop. A smelly, dirty, noisy, toxic truck stop near Baton Rouge, LA.

Air France plans to ship monkeys to US laboratories:

Update:Immediately after we learned that Air France was planning to transport 60 live monkeys from Bioculture's facility in Africa to Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratories, a notorious testing laboratory, PETA and several of our international affiliates quickly mobilized our members and supporters to take action.

Within 24 hours, supporters like you managed to generate tens of thousands of e-mails, thousands of Facebook posts and tweets on Air France's public sites, and hundreds of phone calls to the airline's cargo offices. Our unequivocal voice in behalf of animals was heard loud and clear. We are excited to announce that Air France has now confirmed that this shipment has been canceled!
