World Day for Animals in Laboratories National March & Rally in Oxford, April 27

This March and Rally will be on Saturday 27th April 2013
Rally Meeting from 12 Noon in Oxpens Park, Oxford OX1 1SA

Campaigners from across the country will gather for a march and rally in Oxford to mark World Day for Animals in Laboratories, a UN recognised date to highlight the suffering of the many millions of animals worldwide who are tortured and killed in experiments each year.

Transport from London

A group of us will be traveling on the Oxford tube together. If you would like to travel with us meet us at 9.30am at the Oxford Tube Stop No 10. This is on Buckingham Palace Road, on the corner with Elizabeth Bridge, opposite Victoria Coach Station (the travel time to Oxford is about 100mins). We travel back as people are ready to leave this will probably be about 5pm. The price for a ticket is £16 and you can buy this on the coach at the start of your journey. This will get you an open ticket so you can travel up and back on any coach (subject to availability, but there are lots of coaches). For more information about the Oxford tube including a map of the bus stop, coach times and also for booking in advance go to: http://www.oxfordtube.com/ and also http://uk.megabus.com/Default.aspx

There are regular and frequent buses from London to Oxford, with Oxford Tube and Oxford Bus X90 the cost is £16 return. There is also a good train service.

For more info contact info(at)londonanimalrights.org.uk or phone 07900 020010.

Don’t forget you can also help in other ways, mainly by publicising the march. For more information go to: http://www.wdail.org/

Everything (including turnout) was great except the fact that this demo was in favour of progress, better science, better civilization. I am one of the believers that all nearly all forms of oppression happen because of civilization and industrial science/technology; so I could not be the one to ask a progressive science that leaves animal tests behind.

A great demo with hundreds of people there. The march started with a rally in Oxpens Park where there were excellent speeches, stalls and vegan food. The very vocal march then went through some of the busiest places in Oxford, where the protestors handed out thousands of anti-vivisection leaflets to members of the public. It then went to Oxford University’s animal labs where there were a more speeches telling the University that vivisection is both cruel and scientifically unnecessary. The march then headed back to the park for announcements about future anti-vivecection and other animal rights demos. For more info go to: http://www.wdail.org . And for more info about demos in London go to the London Animal Rights website: www.londonanimalrights.org.uk or facebook page: https://en-gb.facebook.com/londonanimalrights

Fabulous day organised by grass roots groups. Nice to see so many people passionately supporting the day. Excellent inspirational speeches, loud lively demo. Big up to everyone who went, organised, partiipated and generally reminded the people of oxford and the policing that the fight against anaimal abuse is growing stronger and will not be suppressed. Much respect to all x x x x x x

Is anyone taking the train from Victoria?

    April 25, 2013

    • Jessica

Thats right, its 10.21, not 10.14. Oops! Sorry. I've bought my tickets but I think I return at a different time, although I don't think it matters exactly what train you catch. We could meet on the platform or anywhere in the station really. I will give you a call when I get to the station. I will text you my number in a minute as well so we can contact each other.
See you tomorrow morning. :) x

I am going with Beata in her car as I can get to her easier by bus than getting to Victoria.

    April 23, 2013

    • Beata

Lesley, I think we could take one more person if there is anyone else travelling from Staines or around area. At the moment there are only three of us.

Hi Everyone, I guess it's late but I thought we could hire a coach. I asked one company and I got an estimate of £650 for 58 sitter bus for return journey. Do you think it would be worth trying or shell we all make our own journey?

Do you book or just pay on the coach? I don't know much about the Oxford Tube, never used it before. How much is it?

    1 · April 4, 2013

We have much to learn from them and they from us. We would all be better if we treated other species with more respect, less arrogance, and more compassion. Animals can be taught to communicate with us much better than they are taught to do so at present. These behavioural changes would precipitate and/or activate genetic changes much more swiftly than is commonly believed. I would like to learn, get involved, and spend more time with different animals in different situations and help our species to realise how much more our lives could be than consumption and indefinite, incessant, and desultory technological development. To experience being alive in its fullest possible expression; which would be incandescently, joyously, and sometimes radiantly beautiful.
