Volunteer work day at Greenwich Rabbit Rescue

I am organising our monthly bunny rescue volunteer day! As usual we can meet at Lewisham DLR station at 9:30 am and take the 89 bus together to the sanctuary or I can see you there between 10 and 10:30 am. If you are going straight there, ask for Val at the door and say you're one of the volunteers coming for the day. My number is[masked] if you need to contact me. If you want to meet at Lewisham station please let me know so I know how many people are coming and I don't leave anyone behind :)

Looking forward to this!

It was worth our 2 hour jouney there, Lilyana (nearly 3 years old) talked to some of the rabbits and helped with the changing of their bedding, and putting their food and water in their hutches. We managed to clean about 3 hutches or so so not too bad I guess for a first time and with a curious child. It was nice to meet other vegan volunteers too who were accomodating towards me and Liylana being first timers etc. :)

I'm really hoping to make it to this, I need to call ahead and see if they will be ok with me bringing a toddler too. Xx

I honestly would not recommend bringing a toddler to this one, for older kids it works OK, but really with a toddler it would be hard I think due to cramped space and needing constant supervision, so it could be hard for you to get much of the work done with a toddler in tow. Just my opinion, I went there once with this group taking my 16 yr old and 11 yr old daughters, they helped out lots, but would not have taken my younger one if she was not sensible enough, certainly would not take under 5s, maybe not even under about 8 (ask Val tho').
A day out to a large open to the public animal sanctuary would work better than a hard workday, for those with very young families in my opinion.

Hi Mia, it will be great to see you again! I won't take Lilyana because I purely want to check it out myself especially as it'll be my first time. I did ring and was told that yesterday when they had a bout 15 volunteers there, they were almost tripping over each other so to be aware of that.
They have volunteering opportunities every week though. Do let me know what Val says about bringing toddlers anyway because I was thinking of getting more families involved, just need to check it out myself first.
