Volunteer work day at Greenwich Rabbit Rescue

Hello fella animal lovers!

I organise a volunteer day to Greenwich rabbit rescue every month. Greenwich rabbit rescue is the largest bunny rescue in London and I have been volunteering there myself for some time now. I have adopted 3 rabbits from Val. (She runs the place)

I can meet you at 9:30 outside Lewisham DLR station and take the 89 bus there with you or I can meet you directly at her home, as you like; but if you want me to meet you beforehand make sure you let me know so I know how many people to wait for.

We will clean the rabbits hutches and put new fresh bedding, hay, pellets and water. You will have the chance to hug bunnies and put them outside in a run so they can exercise a bit. You can leave at any time if you need to.

I would like to clarify a few things as I have had some "trouble" with a few people before so I better let you know before you commit to come that Val also breeds rabbits and shows them. She has 2 separate sheds: one for the rabbits she breeds and the other for the rescued ones. She does also boarding but we will not be handling those. People have different ideas about breeding. Personally I don't approve it but as I said in the introduction of this meetup, this is a non judgmental group. We will handle and clean both sheds, the rescued and bred bunnies. If you wish to talk to Val about the impact of breeding she is very open to it and hopefully one day she will realise and stop breeding but you must be polite and open minded. We are not there to change anyone's mind but to help. She runs the sanctuary single handed and she needs the help. She really loves bunnies and you can tell by the way she talks about them and handles them. If it wasn't for her over 50 rescued bunnies would now be dead as she never refuses a bunny nor she ever kills any. Other point I would like to clarify is that this is not a vegan rescue. You will need to take your own food with you for the day. Val is not a vegan nor a vegetarian, and again, any opinions are welcome but we are not here in a mission to change anyone. As Gandhi said, be the change you want to see in the world and the world will change by itself. People follow different paths but that doesn't mean their lost, so please respect every one even if they see things in a very different way that you do.

Nothing else to add. I hope to see many animal lovers helping out as there are over 90 hutches to clean!! My number is[masked] in case you have trouble finding the rescue or anything else.

Hi Akasha - can I tell my daughter about this as she lives in Greenwich and if she is free I am sure she would love to volunteer to help?
