Anti-fur protest & email allert at Harvey Nichols as they start selling fur.

Almost 10 years after they agreed to stop selling fur, the department
store chain Harvey Nichols has decided to drop its ethical fur-free policy.

Following a campaign in 2004, Harvey Nichols' Company Director said: "The board has today reviewed the company's fur policy and has decided going forward that we will no longer stock real fur items."

In an email to CAFT yesterday, their Press and Marketing Director wrote:
"I can confirm that our buyers have bought fur trimmed products for this
season. We have taken this opportunity to review our fur policy and from
this season onwards we will be stocking fur trimmed products. The fur
used is ethically sourced and humanely farmed."

It is vitally important to take action on this, Harvey Nichols is very
influential in the world of fashion. If Harvey Nichols gets away with
it, other department stores and fashion chains are likely to follow.
Department stores are much more important and influential than
individual shops in the fashion retail trade.

We are planning protests at their stores across the UK. Their stores
are in London, Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Leeds,
Dublin, and Liverpool. We are starting with a co-ordinated day of action
on Saturday 21st September, with protests at stores in cities across the
country. If you want to take part in protests outside of London , please contact us for details of other events.

Please also contact Harvey Nichols by email, phone, post and/or fax. Tell
them about the horrors of the fur trade and ask them to reinstate their
fur free policy. If you want to write to all the emails at once, copy
and paste the block list underneath all the addresses. To contact the
stores individually, see below.

The campaign to ask Harvey Nichols to stop the sale of animal fur has got off to an excellent start when about 40 anti-fur campaigners protested outside the main entrance of the Knightsbridge store in London. There were also protests at the stores in Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh. To see a report about the demos throughout the UK go to:

It was done by Phoebe, I'll introduce you to her tomorrow :) It is still uploaded but it won't show because it only shows photos after the event has started for some reason.

I just uploaded it again, now two are showing on my smartphone app (android). But none on this web page.

That's great you can email. A facebook page for the London demo and another one to asking people to contact Harvey Nichols have now been set up. People may like to promote these facebook pages on their own or groups social network pages. Anti-Fur Protest At Harvey Nichols, London, As They Start Selling Fur
