VOLUNTEER DAY AT FRIEND FARMED ANIMAL SANCTUARY

Meet at Charing Cross station at 9.15 - by the ticket office. Please bring £5 note and some pound coins for the fare - or drive down.  For a group of 4 or more there is a 50% discount fare.

Bring wellies, a change of trousers/top and a snack or potluck to share. Lifts to and from Paddock Wood Station are available.

These visits are always enjoyable: usually we help with outdoor maintenance and other mini projects around the sanctuary.  Its also  chance to meet like-minded people and interact with many rescued farmed animals (normally including feeding them).......we usually leave around 5pm but people can leave earlier if they want of course.

Thank you dear friends.

Hi guys, I'll be driving from South London, along the south circular, so can do a pick up in Catford / Forest Hill at 9.15. Let me know, I have space for 3 people.

Sounds like it went well today, so sorry I couldn't be there but I was at least doing "animal stuff" and I did go to Friend with the vegan meetup group a fortnight ago. Our next visit is scheduled for 26th April, same day as the World Day for Animals march in Nottingham which I feel is a vital one to get numbers on (see www.wdail.org). I don't know if many who go to Friend would also want to go on that march but it would be good to have the option so any thoughts on maybe making the visit to Friend on the Saturday before, 19th or even Sunday 20th.?

Hope to make it tomorrow .......I wanted to attend the anti-fur demo at Harvey Nichols as it's a National Day of Action so may change my mind and go to that. Can we talk about making these Friend visits on a Sunday maybe sometimes? Saturdays will often clash with demos. marches etc. and an example is next month when the annual World Day march for animals in labs is on April 26th which clashes with the Friend visit. Let's change this and talk about what date to move it to? I normally go on the world day marches as they need the numbers and the speeches are usually inspiring.....see www.wdail.org

I believe my co-organiser is going from Charing Cross so that's at least 3 and enough to get a discount, and it seems at least one more I think is going by train so 4 or more will give you the maximum 50% discount.......meeting point is the main ticket office, actually I think it's the only ticket office at Charing Cross.......if in doubt maybe swap numbers via private message on here?

Hi :) I'd love to come but just want to make sure there are others to share the train fare with and that I can get a lift with someone from the station before I commit. This will be my first time volunteering here and I don't want to get stranded somewhere in Kent! If I have to bribe people with the promise of vegan cupcakes then so be it ;) Hope to see you at the weekend!

Just to add......don't worry about lifts, as someone, normally Mark will collect you from the station and if not then others will be at Friend with cars and cafenoire will be there to arrange that. Main thing is to be at Charing Cross ticket office in time:)

Hi Ivan, do you happen to have any space in your car left for me to catch a lift with you?

Hi everyone! I am going to be driving from either Haywards Heath or Chatham - not sure yet as it depends what my Friday plans are! So was just wondering if i should meet everyone at the Farm? If so, what time should i roughly aim to arrive by?
    Looking forward to helping!x

Heya. How much is the fare and is it walking distance to the farm From the station? I really want to help and this will be my first volunteering experience on a farm dedicated to rescuing :-D love light joy xx

    March 5, 2014

    • cafenoire

the fare is between 8 and 16 pounds depending on how many people get a discount. it's not really walking distance from the station but one group usually get a lift.

      March 12, 2014

  • sadiye t.

Heya. Thank you so much for answering my questions :-) I'm not entirely certain that I'll be able to make it as I'm still waiting for the rota at work to be completed. I did however request it off, so fingers crossed I can join! I'll know by next week :-) Love light joy x

    March 8, 2014

  • David

PS That discount is for 4 or more people I think, maybe others who go via train can confirm that...?
At the moment I have to drive there as I am currently staying way out in wildest wettest Sussex.

    1 · March 7, 2014

  • David

hi Sadiye......Apologies for the delay, as my internet connection here in the wilderness doesn't work all the time! It's not walking distance......maybe 5 miles or so but don't worry, Mark from Friend normally meets you at the station......would be good if other drivers can volunteer to do this, I normally help with lifts back to the station later. Assuming we get a group discount for 4 people I believe the return fare to Paddock Wood is £8.55 each.......there is also a discount for 3 people I think but for one or two people it's about double that discounted fare, hence vital to get as many as possible to Charing Cross together at the same time. We'll look forward to seeing you and I'm sure you'll enjoy it, it's a friendly sociable atmosphere so no need for anyone to worry about going on their own ; any more questions please ask away:)
