Christmas Day at Pine Garden (dedicated to SAVE THE CHIMPS)

Pine Garden is always a favorite place to enjoy great food & great company.
They have a unique VEGETARIAN / VEGAN MENU menu which includes almost any dish you could find at a Chinese restaurant!!! What a great way to spend a healthy and cruelty free Christmas!

Let's relax & enjoy the holiday together.
Last year 30 vegans, vegetarians, & curious omnivores turned out to eat, drink, & be merry.

THIS YEAR, WE'RE DEDICATING CHRISTMAS DAY DINNER TO HELPING SAVE THE CHIMPS. Let's help these rescued chimps who have had such tragic lives by donating TEDDY BEARS, PRESCHOOL TOYS, AND BLANKETS FOR THESE VERY DESERVING CHIMPS. See their "Wish List" below. Please bring one or as many items as you like to Christmas Dinner, if you can.

Please be courteous about updating your RSVP. The restaurant really wants an accurate count on Christmas.

Also, it's much easier for the restaurant staff on this busy day if you could pay your bill with cash rather than credit card.

SAVE THE CHIMPS provides permanent sanctuary for the lifelong care of chimpanzees rescued from research laboratories, entertainment and the pet trade.

SAVE THE CHIMPS is the largest chimp sanctuary in the world, and is located just 1.5 hours north of us in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Wish List

Chimpanzee Needs & Treats
*Peanut butter – creamy only.
*Nuts in Shells (any kind, unsalted)
*Sunflower Seeds (unsalted) Blankets, Toys & Enrichment Items
*Blankets (please no quilts, comforters, mattress pads or sofa covers – they do not fit in our washers)
*Stuffed animals (not stuffed with pebbles, beans, PVC, pellets or foam)
*Small plastic toys, sturdy (age appropriate for 1 - 3 years - no choking hazards) *Gift Certificates to Home Depot, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart

Please note that fleece throw blankets stand up to the “chimp test” - they’re durable and can handle wash after wash. The Sanctuary will gladly accept your gently used, hard plastic toddler toys.

Blankets, toys, and stuffed animals may be purchased at thrift stores where you can find many items for very little money.

Gift wrapping is also appreciated. The volunteers at SAVE THE CHIMPS will wrap the gifts. The Chimps love tearing the presents open, just as human children would. LET’S GIVE THESE CHIMPS A GREAT PARTY. YOU MIGHT WANT TO ASK NEIGHBORS, FRIENDS AND RELATIVES TO PARTICIPATE AS WELL.

Thanks so much for the Christmas Day Dinner idea Judy & Maida, and the Save the Chimps idea Judy. smile

Lot's of wonderful blankets, toys, and treats were collected for the chimps. Thanks to everyone who helped make their world a little brighter. And a special thanks to Judy for organizing this event.

Wow! What a party! 45 people! I thought the restaurant did a great job considering that they were open for business for their regular customers too, and most of our group RSVP'd during the last 2 weeks and the number grew considerably. It was so nice spending the holiday with so many friends. I hope our get-together made everyone's Christmas a little brighter. It certainly did mine :-)

I picked up 3 bolts of colorful Fleece fabric for blankets on sale at Jo-Ann Fabrics! That will help the chimps have a warm cozy winter :-) I'm also bringing holiday wrapping paper for the big guys & girls.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
