Vigil for National Day of Mourning for Animals Imprisoned In Labs

Date: Sunday, May 30, 2010
Time: 8:00pm - 9:00pm
Location: Primate Products, Inc.
7780 Northwest 53rd Street
Miami, FL
MAP

Primate Products, Inc. is a nefarious corporation that imprisons, tortures, mutilates, and murders monkeys. They supply the vile vivisection industry with both the equipment of oppression, including cages and restraints, and the victims of vivisection.

Millions of animals die each year behind the closed doors of labs across the US being nothing more than a number -- a statistic. We do not want them to be forgotten - their suffering and deaths need to be memorialized.

World Week 2010 turnout and response was great, but these animals suffer and die year around and not just for 7 days each year, so the pressure on labs needs to be year around. The next event is May 30th as a funeral for the animals.

PLEASE HELP - GET INVOLVED -- SPREAD THE WORD!!

The cops where awesome, we were there illegally. I wanted to say until the cops told to leave; however, John Brown was the wiser one, to point-out that we did not want to be forced to give them our real names and present our DLs and automobile tags, which could have been done at time and place, let alone been arrested and taken to jail, since we just did an unpermitted mourning.

I would have preferred to have had a permit, so, we could stayed longer; however, I understand why at times we do not have them. Our favorite New Times' photographer was awesome, yet again. Our wonderful facilitators (for lack of a better word) need to provide the whole group more information during and before the event.

I would like to have known all the information that our facilitators gain, especially from the cops, someone in our group did bring this up and that was no permit (at least I did not read there was one). I believe we should have made our presence known to the monkeys inside, to know that there is someone there for them. I would have loved to hear our positive chants to them.

Yes, classical music would have been great to go with our warming chanting voices; they even have classical music for chanting, of course, everybody probably knows that. It was our usual truly dedicated and passionate group, which slowly; but surely grows. These issues that our group deals with are so important and yet there are never enough truly dedicated and passionate (that is all that is needed) people join our group's activities and then joining the group.

I LOVE how this event was left to the group to decide the course of actions that were taken at the event, all future actions taken for this cause and that we came together to pool our resources to best take on this issue.

The reason I only gave this event a good rating are:
Providing the group with important information was not thought of right after it was known, by our facilitators,
We did not make our presence known to the monkeys, inside, and missed out on not having classical music and chanting music,
There was no permit for more actions to take place
    And
Of course, sadly, as always there must be more truly dedicated and passionate members, even though it was a nice turn-out.

With all that I have suggested and found fault with, it is important for all to know I will always go with what the group's wants to do (majority rule). Plus, our wonderful facilitators do so much for these events and fighting for these causes can happen.
