On Sunday, October 11th the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals will host its second Animal Well Fair from 11:00 a.m. ? 2:00 p.m. at its 279 River Road, South Windham, Maine farm facility. The public is invited to the free family friendly event. The Animal Well Fair brings together more than a dozen animal welfare organizations and professionals to celebrate the role of animals in our lives. The Windham Public Safety Department?s Canine Unit will put on a demonstration, large and small animal veterinarians will be present to discuss animal health and safety, and the Department of Agriculture?s Animal Welfare Department will provide information about animal protection in Maine. Farriers, trainers, and equine photographers will be present, as well to offer information about their specialties.
Merchandise and raffle prizes will be offered to help raise money in support of the abused and neglected animals being rehabilitated at the Society?s farm. Free face painting, pumpkin painting, and crafts will be offered to the youngest animal lovers. Refreshments will be offered for purchase along with native grown pumpkins and gourds. The MSSPA is a tax-exempt, 501(c) (3) entity and receives no federal, state or local funding. The Society is entirely funded by membership dues, donations, bequests, grants, and fund-raising activities. The Society does not charge for its services and seeks no reimbursement from any public source. The MSSPA provides more than one million dollars in services annually to the taxpayers of Maine and salvation to abused animals.
