Bangor Animal Welfare Meet-Up

  • Jan 19, 2008 · 2:00 PM
  • Bangor Humane Society

Hey again! I'm slowly making my way north and am pleased to announce the next Maine Animal Welfare Meet-Up will take place in Bangor, at the Bangor Humane Society! This will be an introductory meet-up to get activists in the Bangor area together to think about animal issues and find out what is going on in Maine when it comes to animal welfare. I hope many of you can attend and please pass the message on to your friends and other animal lovers. The timing coincides with the start of Maine's legislative session, so we'll have plenty of legislative stuff to talk about as well. Let's get active for animals!

I learned a lot about what's happening for animal welfare in Maine. I also took copious notes on who to write, call & e-mail for more involvement!

Katie presented an interesting and thorough briefing of important issues in Maine and at the National level.
It was also nice to hear from others working to make this world a better place for us all.
This meet-up really stressed the difference between animal welfare and animal rights to me...are we working to end the exploitation of our fellow sentients, or are we seeking to continue using them -- albeit more humanely-- yet still as mere instruments for achieving human ends?
