Vegan longer than most terrestrial human beings have been alive. I've participated in the animal welfare/rights debates, yet have a strong interest in supporting the local humane societies and shelter volunteers.
The animal welfare/rights debates: does "welfarism" sell out the longterm interests of animals (as in the so-called "happy meat"), or does it open the door for discussion of the suffering AND animals' legitimate moral, social, and political rights?
I am sure you would be welcome to join us. It sounds like at this point you would be more interested in listening to work of others. Yes?
I am thinking about meeting for the first time on Sunday afternoon. Would that suit you?

Wow, Maynard, I envy your having the opportunity to work at the Ann Wigmore Institute. I have just started researching the classes there. I've been vegan for a couple of years but really want to go totally raw now. This looks like the place!
