Hello Everybody!

Hearing day is drawing near and I wanted to send out this reminder to everyone who is attending or has expressed some interest in possibly attending. Your show of support is vital to this bill, even if you do not get up to testify. There will be a lot of people at the hearing and we want to have a strong show of support. Please make an effort to attend if you are able. Our legislators need to know that animal welfare is an important issue to Mainers!

What: Public Hearing on LD 2010 and LD 2171 (See links below)

When: Hearing starts promptly at 1:00pm on Monday, February 11th

Who: All public is invited to be there in front of the Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (click http://janus.state.me.us/house/jt_com/acf.htm to see members)

Where: Room 206 of the Cross Building in Augusta

From Interstate 95, take exit 109 to Augusta. Bear right onto Western Avenue towards Augusta. Stay straight on Western Avenue until you see the large Armony on your left and have a right turning lane with a traffic light. Turn right onto Armory road, which will curve around to the left. Continue straight oon this road for a short distance. As you go down a hill there will be a stop light at the intersection of Sewell. The Cross building is directly in front and to the right of you. It is a large stone building. That State House will be visible directly behind the Cross Building. If you turn right onto Sewell, you can attempt to park in the parking lot in front of Cross Building. Just be forewarned that the lot is usually full. If you turn left onto Sewall, you can turn an immediate right into the parking garage, which is free. To find room 206, enter Cross Building by way of the large stone stairs on the front middle of the building. This will put you on the second floor. Turn left through the doors and Room 206 will be ahead on the left.

LD 2010 is a concept draft to promote humane dog breeding and regulate puppy mills

LD 2171 is a bill to improve animal welfare laws, with many provisions- if you have a question on it, let me know.

If you need other info, please let me know. If you want to submit written testimony and cannot attend the hearing, please either email it to the Committee Clerk at [address removed] She will print and pass them out. If you want them to be formally introduced before passing out, email them to me and I'll bring them with me and present before I give my testimony.
