Manga Jam #6: Drunken Dream and Other Stories

Manga Jam returns April 19th for a discussion on A Drunken Dream and Other Stories. A Drunken Dream and Other Stories is a collection of some short manga spanning 4 decades from pioneer of Shoujo (girls comics), Moto Hagio. Hagio was part of an influential group of manga-ka who known as the Year 24 group. These artists had set many of the conventions upon which modern shoujo manga is built upon and were some of the first well-known female cartoonists in Japan. Hagio is best known in the United States for her science fiction romances, A A’ and They Were Eleven.  Her work combines romantic fantasy with an oftentimes dark realistic pathos.
