The Sound of Music with intro commentary by Ann Glenn Cruse (see trailer below)

Bow Tie Cinemas at the Harbour Center continues its weekend "Cine Classic" film series with the 1965 mega hit musical The Sound of Music.

Love it or hate it, there's no denying this is one of the most popular movies ever made. It is the third highest-grossing film of all time in the US and the fifth highest-grossing worldwide.

Always a visual treat, this is a film much enhanced by big screen viewing.  The film won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director (Robert Wise.)

As part of my intro commentary, which begins at 10:30, I'll reveal some interesting real life facts about the von Trapp family and how events in the movie matched (or didn't) their actual experiences.

Here's the original trailer:

Admission is $5.50 ($4.50 with a Bow Tie free Criterion Club card which can be obtained online at Bow Tie's website or at the theater.)

Be sure to check Bow Tie Harbour 9's website for the complete list of their upcoming weekend "Cine Classic" films.

Hope to see lots of fellow Annapolis Movie Club members Saturday mornings at Bow Tie Harbour 9!

As usual Ann pointed out things to look for in the movie. My 12 year old grandaughter loved it.
