12 Years a Slave - 4:30 at the Harbour theater

12 Years a Slave is based on the 1853 autobiography of Solomon Northup, a free black man who was kidnapped in Washington D.C in 1841 and sold into slavery. He worked on plantations in the state of Louisiana for 12 years before his release.

Directed by the acclaimed Steve McQueen and starring Chiwetel Ejiofor as Solomon Northup in what will surely garner a Best Actor nomination.

I was unclear on where we were to meet before the movie and missed connections on you folks this evening. (Am totally new to the group and don't do texting.)
The movie is sure to be in the running for several academy awards.
The quality of the acting, special effects with make-up, historal
accuracy, et al made it the BEST film I've seen this year.

We're in the third row from the back on the right side.

Sorry, but I had a last minute issue with my car and I don't think I can make it. :-( Maybe next time.

Tied up with obligations to take care of. Although I do see it is playing nearby at Hoyts which is all good!

It's also at Arundel Mills. They at least have stadium seating.

Steve, Let's do Sunday evening at Annapolis Harbour? I hate that theater but it is coming this weekend to Annapolis Harbour.

Or if you would rather do Tuesday. I can move Bad Grandpa (80% on rotten tomatoes) if more people would rather see this. I can't do a late evening for this movie. Its 3 hours long. So maybe Sunday, late afternoon would would work!

I just saw it now that it's coming to the harbor. Changing it now for this sunday at the harbor.

Is there an afternoon time at which the movie can be seen @ Annapolis Harbor on Sunday?

A review of Annapolis theatres finds that this IS showing in Annapolis this week-end at Annapolis Harbor. Will be there! Please keep me in mind RE other movie options in the future.

I wish that this film was being shown in Annapolis. Am considering driving all the way to Baltimore but am not enthusiastic about the
    idea.
I, too, have heard that this picture is to be one of the best this year.

This movie will be playing in Hanover this weekend. It's closer then Baltimore.

Looks like I won't be able to make it Sunday after all. I'll just have to catch it later.

Unfortunately it appears that this movie is not playing in Annapolis and we would have to go Bethesda or DC to see it. I won't ask people to all the way out there on a weeknight, so I'm moving the date to Sunday the 27th. That way we can see it at the historic Charles Theater in Baltimore. Since parking could be difficult, I'm open to doing a carpool from the Annapolis Mall.

Thanks, Shaila. I'll try to make it on Sunday, but I'm not sure I can.

I am open to waiting if people can't make it up to Baltimore. Heck, I could always call the main number at Fox Searchlight to see when the wide release date is.

FYI I'll be seeing the movie same day at the Charles at 1pm with another Meetup group. If only both groups were going to the same showtime, we coulda had a joint event! (But I haven't done anything with the other group in over a year, so I figured I should go with them this time.)

Hmm I am considering going. It is light rail accessible & it's a blaaah Sunday and a Ravens Bye week at that!

Sorry, didn't look at the date carefully.....I cannot make it!

Maybe next time, I am looking forward to joining the group!

Hello my name is Aljorie. I am curious on if there will be another Meetup of this movie.

We tend to just do one showing of a movie, but you're more than welcome to post a second meetup for the movie for another day.

This movie is getting incredible reviews out of Toronto. Looking like the early favorite for Best Picture.
