12 Years a Slave is based on the 1853 autobiography of Solomon Northup, a free black man who was kidnapped in Washington D.C in 1841 and sold into slavery. He worked on plantations in the state of Louisiana for 12 years before his release.
Directed by the acclaimed Steve McQueen and starring Chiwetel Ejiofor as Solomon Northup in what will surely garner a Best Actor nomination.

New movies are usually scheduled for Tuesdays ($6 tickets at Bow Tie theatres) & Fridays (Waugh Chapel for IMAX/3D/better presentations), We also have Saturday/Sunday Movie Classics hosted by Ann Glenn, and the occasional trip to the Charles Theatres in Baltimore and Bethesda Row.
