HalloCon VI

  • Nov 2, 2013 · 4:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Event: HalloCon VI

Date: November 2nd, Saturday

Time: 4:00 PM until midnight (come for all or part of the event)

Location: 5496 Michael Dr    Ypsilanti Mi 48197 (my house)

Theme: Halloween witches, goblins, ghouls, and pumpkins at their best

Dress: It is a Halloween party, so dress to the maximum your personality will allow.    If most dress up even a little, it will be great.  Open to any costume you want.

Bring: Snack, drink (alcohol is OK), games, merriment (No red pop please. Stains carpet)

Bring: Yourself, significant other, friends, other gamers'

Purpose: Well ultimately to have fun.  This is a gamer style Halloween party, anyone can attend.

I will have 7 tables set up. Bring and run a game and/or play in other games ........ anything that is cool, please bring and run ..... it will once again be awesome. I am asking GM's to keep games to not more than 75 minutes so everyone gets to play in multiple games.

I will be running Ultimate Werewolf early on in the evening and once again around 10:00.

Feel free to invite gamers from your gaming group or others. Families are welcome, although keep in mind you must watch younger kids, plus there will be alcohol. If everyone brings a snack or an exotic Halloween food, and drink, there should be plenty of food to go around .... Pizza has been ordered in the past. I will make spaghetti again.

If you're definitely coming and can bring a game to run, please drop me an E-mail. However, if you don't know till the last minute that is OK as well. For questions give me a call at[masked] or E-mail me.

Roll a 20,

Dennis

I'm going to run a gladiator arena game based on Pathfinder rules. You will get a random fighter (index card): maul, two short swords, long sword and shield, or trident and net. Before the match begins you can trade the. The focus will be on tactical combat. Form allegiances to take down the tough guy, but in the end, the winner is the last man standing. Each fight should not last more than one-half and hour so people can take turns stepping into the ring. We will keep track of winners and have a champion fight at the end if people are around. I need some people to play-test this with me first so anyone interested let me know. I think we can get this tested in a four-hour session. I need to make sure the characters are balanced and the level range is right. Also, how many fighters at once. I was thinking 6th level fighters. And of course, we'll need to stat them out with cool feats.

I can bring it to a 2nd Saturday meetup to play if a RPG session ends early. The focus on 2nd Saturday is Role Playing so I would not want to run it as a regular session game. I am not sure if I will be at the meetup in December though. I may have school papers to write.

I am moving to the area on the 1st of November and I'm looking for players. I am planning to run a Colonial Gothic campaign and a Twilight:2000 campaign on alternating weekends. I met my wife running a Deadlands campaign near Baltimore, MD and we love spending Saturdays with friends around the table.

Hey Sean, I'm a gamer that loves 3.5 D&D and pretty much that's the the only game I know how to play. Would teaching me these 2 games you plan on running slow the game down or interupt it? I would love to learn but I dont wanna ever spoil someone else's gaming experience.

Sounds interesting ... but half my saturdays are already claimed, and sometimes I don't know which saturdays until later.

What do I need to bring?

    October 21, 2013

    • Dennis D.

Excellent but tough question to answer. I have seen some of everything at HalloCon. People who are not much of a cook will bring store bought goodies, while those who enjoy creating something delicious go to town ... sometimes quite elaborate. I will have a big pot of spaghetti and sauce. but there are always main dishes and deserts that someone briongs I do not provide drinks except for a pot of coffee and water/ice. The only thing I ask is to NOT bring Red Pop or anything with a strong red coloring. That darn red color will not come out of my carpet and the stain is obvious. All in all Gamers bring food to share as a general rule and so there is a lot of food and drink to go around. Oh .... people do bring beer/ wine, etc. but it has never become an issue. Gamers are more interested in the "game" than the alcohol.

We're definitely coming. Arkham Horror can be considerably longer than the time frame, so I might do a little poking at it and see if I can't come up with a "quick n dirty" version of the game. If not, I can bring Carcassonne.
