Antioch Writers Group Monthly Meetup

  • February 19, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Writers will bring their works in progress, read them to the group and seek feedback. If you have a work to share, please bring at least 6 copies to pass around.

Please email Amy Blue directly, if you would like her to make copies for you in advance to be passed out for the meetup.

This group is self-sustaining due to the organizer's schedule who is not able to attend. However, if an assistant organizer is able to attend, they can help lead the group for that specific meetup. Members are encouraged to keep sharing to 10-15 minutes each, if the group is larger.

You can ask the library for a bigger conference room if the one usually used (downstairs in corner) gets too crowded.

When Amy is able, she will schedule a writing related speaker for the group at least once a year.

Please email M.O. or Amy Blue with any additional questions if needed.

It was a huge group. Yeah Rose is far edgier than Denise. :)

It was a huge group. Just shows our true stripes. Writers & Poets know how to have fun. WhooHoo! Thanks Rose. ;-)

So, guess what! There is no such word as sub-sequential OR subsequential. It's either sequential, or subsequent. Wouldn't have thought twice about that one if you guys hadn't pointed it out to me! Thanks a bunch!

And...I can't stop thinking about How Clara caught the Clap. Truly hilarious! ;)

It was funny. Reminiscent of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

:) That's why I come to the meetups, Christy. I never know when my brain is going to concoct a new word! It's nice to have other eyes catch things. Writers are too close to their own work
    sometimes.

If creating new words is an issue for you perhaps send them to Webster's or other word collectors and perhaps they will go mainstream and common.

I must not be supposed to go yet... this time my wife hurt her knee tripping on ice.

Have a great meetup and I'll try again next time.

I hope she's on the mend Jerry. We miss your presence.

I can't wait to meet everyone there. Not sure what to send in tonight.

The works are shared in printed form, and Amy from the library will usually send out a reminder and offer to print your work for the meeting if you email it to her before 5pm the day of (also mentioned in the description above).

For types of work, we have had short stories, chapters from books that members are writing / have written, and poetry.

It's a privilege to be a part of this group! I'm super excited and can't wait to meet everyone! :) What format should I bring the writing in? Printed/hard copy? What are the most common/popular types of writing that members share? Thanks! :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
