The next meeting of the Antioch Public Library Writer's Meet-up will be held at the Antioch Public Library.
We have author Amy Hansen speaking in the Eide Room, which is located in the lower level of the library. Bring any questions you may have about getting your work published. Also, we are working on putting a book together for patron check out. The library would like to publish a book on the works of the writers group. We are still in the beginning stages. Gerianne will have a handout tonight explaining a bit about it. Ann Gail Hansen, professional journalist for Pioneer Press, spoke about her career as a writer of feature articles. (Feature articles are the articles "featured" on the front of a magazine.) The majority of the presentation focused on learning the elements of a good feature article. Attendees received a handout for writing notes and following the presentation, as well as a magazine of their choice. Hansen shared examples from her published work as she went through the creation of a feature article from opening line to conclusion. Query letters, submission guidelines, and publication outlets were also addressed.
