Time Travel at Top of the Mark

Jump in your TARDIS, fire up your Delorean or wind your Time Turner and set your clocks for 1939 San Francisco when the Top of the Mark opened. We'll be sipping martinis and listening to jazz in our most dapper World War II Era threads.

Please note: after 9 pm there is $10 cover charge.

I'm sitting by the window now, but if I'm not, the party is under my name. Brittany. :)

I'm under an awning that says I'm in the right place. But the door is locked?

You may have to go under the main enterance. Once inside you have to take the elevator to the top floor

Hey guys, I'll be at top of the Mark at 8 in a blue polka dot top. Due to a persistent cold I probably won't be staying late, but everyone is free to come and hang out and dance the night away. :)

I'm still out of town for my family emergency :/

Yeah guys, it doesn't need to be authentic or anything, just inspired by the times. :)

Does it count that we are just inspired by the dress at the time to not look like bro douchebags?

Oh nice. So just dressing nice is good :) I couldn't find anything that worked for me. Thanks for the update.

Is period-appropriate attire "mandatory", "recommended", or "optional"? My vintage search was kind of a bust on account of budgeting, so I'm trying to gauge the level of faux pas involved in showing up in something else.

Highly encouraged, but if not feisable just please be neat and a little classy.

Gotcha! Not to imply I can't meet the latter requirements, but I think I'd better sit this one out.

This might be too short noticed but a group shopping trip to Haight would be nice since there's so many vintage shops! If anyone is in the East Bay, there's a vintage clothing store by UC-Berkeley off of Telegraph.

I might be up for it, but it seems like it would be tough to get people together before Friday.

Yeah, it's true. But if anyone needs outfits, hit up those places :)

  • Diane

I am really excited to finally join you guys! My outfit will not be extremely authentic. Vintagey movie starish? An actual vintage rhinestone bracelet was the starting inspiration tho. See you relatively soon :)

Anybody got any leads on affordable WW2 men's wear? I figure a zoot suit is going to be the most identifiable thing on a shelf/catalog.

There's a great military surplus store in Montara on Hwy 1. Not sure about the price though.

hmm I don't think I have WWII attire, but I do have some dapper clothes I can wear... At least my mom thinks I look dapper in them. LOL!

    WW2 era attire?

    September 11, 2013

    • Brittany C

Late 1930s (Top of the Mark opened in 1939) to 1940s (it was a hot spot for military men in the city). So any clothing appropriate to that time period.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
