Tue evening hike in lovely Piedmont

Same hike, 2 nights in a row b/c I imagine it will be popular. Please sign up for only one day.  Thanks!

***********************************************************

Piedmont is a city of millionaires - home to Obama fundraisers and public schools with endowment funds.  But there are other things that make this place dear to me - like its impressive homes with beautiful gardens and Bay views and lovely parks with towering redwoods and hidden streams.  Seeing how Spring is in the air, I hope we catch the cherry blossoms in Piedmont Park, too.  In full bloom, they are spectacular!  I highly recommend you check them out on your own if you can't make the hike.  Peak season is likely the first week of April.

Hike - About 3.5 miles on hilly streets, pedestrian paths, and park trails. The route has hills and LOTS of stairs. If you hate taking the stairs when the escalator is out, this hike is not for you.  That being said, we tend to go slower than most exercise meetup groups so we can enjoy the scenery and the conversation.  So if you're a fast hiker, this hike may not be for you, either.  There is no marked trail to follow.  You can't just run ahead and meet us later... Like it or not, you're stuck with us :)  For those interested the hike follows part of the green route at this link: http://goo.gl/maps/V3zf8

Bring - water, comfy walking shoes, layers.

Restrooms - there's a public restroom about an hour into the walk.

Dogs - We'll go through a couple of parks with off-leash dog trails.  Outside those areas, please keep dogs leashed.

Kids - you can always bring kids on my hikes. I trust that you read the event description and can tell whether this would be a fun experience for them.

Attendance Note -if you sign up to attend, you will be counted on to show up. So please keep your RSVP up to date to reflect your intentions to join us. All members who do not show up will be recorded as a NO SHOW in the system. Members with 3 or more No Shows will be removed from the group.

Questions? - as always, my number is posted above under the event location.  Please call/text/email should you have any questions about our hike.

MEETING SPOT AND PARKING

We will meet at the corner of Oakland Ave and El Cerrito Ave.  Street parking in the neighborhood is free and plentiful.

Please be on time and update your RSVP if plans change.  We will only wait a few minutes past the posted start time.

Explored yet another "wow" neighborhood. Both mom and I enjoyed it thoroughly. And as always, the people made it even better!

Another great urban hike to explore "my own backyard". I meant to mention, there is a hidden path right next Soldier's field. It's not a stairway, almost a trail.
