This will be a short 2-mile loop hike to the top of Albany Hill to get some after-work exercise, check out the hilltop swings, and enjoy nice views of the Bay. The route takes us by El Cerrito Off The Grid where 10 food trucks rotate through every Wednesday night. Tonight's trucks:
Doc's of the Bay
Drewski's Hot Rod Kitchen
Ebbett's Good To Go
Seoul on Wheels
The Creme Brulee Cart
Hike: 1 hour, ~2mi, with ~400ft elevation gain. The hike is only 1 hour but plan on spending about another hour at dinner and then about 15 minutes walking back to the cars. We should be back at the cars by 9pm. Though short, the hike is rather steep and has stairs. We tend to go slower than most meetup/exercise groups so we can enjoy the scenery and the conversation. A hike description and nice photos are here: http://oaklandgeology.wordpress.com/2011/11/13/the-albany-hill-walk-35/
Bring- water, comfy walking shoes, layers. It can be chilly on top of the hill and at our al fresco dinner. The walk back to the cars is along San Pablo Ave; no flashlights needed.
Restrooms - There are no restrooms at the meeting point or on the trails. I think there's a port-a-potty at the trucks.
Dogs - you can bring dogs, but please keep Fido on leash at all times, not everyone in the group is comfortable around dogs. Plus this is an urban hike - I'd worry about the dog taking off into the street.
Kids - you can always bring kids on my hikes. I trust that you read the event description and can tell whether this would be a fun experience for them.
Attendance Note - if you sign up to attend, you will be counted on to show up. So please keep your RSVP up to date to reflect your intentions to join us. All members who do not show up will be recorded as a NO SHOW in the system. Members with 3 or more No Shows will be removed from the group.
Questions? As always, my number is posted above under the event location. Please call/text/email should you have any questions about our hike.
MEETING SPOT AND PARKING
We will meet in front of Club Mallard at 752 San Pablo Ave. There's usually plenty of free street parking along San Pablo and the neighboring streets. Club Mallard is a 15-min walk from El Cerrito Bart.
Please look up directions ahead of time so you can be on time. We will only wait a few minutes past the posted start time.
