First, let me say "marhaba" as I am the new "Cultural Events Coordinator" for the Arabic Language Caravan. My goal is to expand our activities to include events where we can practice Arabic as well as share and learn about the history and culture of Arabic-speaking countries, such as movies, music and dance performances, art exhibits, lectures, dinners, and festivals.
Our first cultural event is the movie "Zaytoun," which is being shown as part of the Dallas International Film Festival. The film tells the story about the relationship between an Israeli fighter pilot and a Palestinian boy. The film is partially in Arabic. More details about the film and the trailer can be found here: http://secure.dallasfilm.org/festivalfeature/id/22815447473150612
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at www.DallasFilm.org or at the theater the day of the movie. The film begins at 12:15 p.m.. However, because this is a festival, ticket holders need to be seated 15 minutes before the movie begins. For that reason, let's meet at 11:45 a.m.
