Levantine Arabic Weeknight Study Group

This is a meetup that focuses on practicing the spoken dialect(s) of Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan. The goal is to support one another in learning and improving, not to offer a comprehensive Arabic class. Native or experienced speakers are welcome to come and help or get some conversation practice, and others are welcome to come and learn.

For the next few weeks we want to focus on vocabulary useful for discussing current events in the Levant, using media examples. We may cross over a little into fus7a (modern standard Arabic.)

Don't forget to listen to plenty of Arabic in your spare time! Immerse yourself!

Hi Laurel! I'm excited too - unfortunately I'm actually going to have to cancel! I took a spill on my bike today - pretty humorous in retrospect - and I'm gonna have to take it easy and recuperate tonight. Sorry to back out! I'll look forward to next time.

I'm excited to have new people to talk with. If it's just me, Kristy, and Megan, we don't have to do the political talk--can just try to do get acquainted talk in Arabic as much as possible. What do you think? Oh, and I'll have my 3 month old baby with me.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
