This is a meetup that focuses on learning and practicing the spoken dialect(s) of Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan. Native or experienced speakers are welcome to come and help or get some conversation practice, and others are welcome to come and learn. ًWe are using the downloadable textbook Syrian Colloquial Arabic as a companion to this meetup, but it is not required.
This week, we'll be working on our verbs and prepositions. We'll also do some spoken practice and learning on the subject of family. Download "relatives audio" here. Download the scanned text here. If you have time over the weekend to learn some of the new vocabulary and be ready to use it, you'll get more out of the session.
We'll make sure we can all use the following verbs from our verb list:
9. To drink شرب
10. To eat اكل
16. To have -عند (not really a verb)
Don't forget to listen to plenty of Arabic in your spare time! Immerse yourself!
Also, note that we'll be meeting at a new location, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (not far from Panera), as we search for a cozy, convenient place in which to study and enjoy Arabic.
