Levantine Arabic Weeknight Study Group

This is a meetup that focuses on practicing the spoken dialect(s) of Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan. The goal is to support one another in learning and improving, not to offer a comprehensive Arabic class. Native or experienced speakers are welcome to come and help or get some conversation practice, and others are welcome to come and learn. ًLaurel recommends using the downloadable textbook Syrian Colloquial Arabic as a companion to this meetup, but it is not required.

This week, after briefly reporting our learning strategies for the week and doing some initial Arabic conversation (or just practicing whatever words/sentences you know), we'll memorize (or try to memorize) the first couple of pages from the "relatives audio" and scanned text here. We'll use the vocabulary in that text to construct new sentences. Then Mays is going to put everyone on the spot to use prepositions! (See the hand out--to be posted soon for those who don't have it.)

Don't forget to listen to plenty of Arabic in your spare time! Immerse yourself!

Also, note that we'll be meeting at our new location, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.
