What motivates you to learn Arabic?

In addition to the business I own, I manage a non-profit organization that sets up home Bible studies around the world. One location we have a number of studies is in Galilee, where we work with the Arab population there. I have several years of formal Arabic in the past, but want to be more fluent in speaking when I am there.

Which dialect(s) interest you? Are you also learning to read and write? (example: Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf, Tunisian) If you already speak Arabic, what dialect(s) do you know?

Primarily I am interested in the Levantine

What is your favourite word in Arabic?

bateekh, watermellon because it is fun to say and eat
