New Developments in Arbitration Against Sovereigns" at Georgetown Law Center

International Centre for Dispute Resolution Young & International (ICDR Y&I) and Georgetown International Arbitration Society (GIAS) are pleased to announce a joint program which will be held at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC on 3 April 2013. The program, “New Developments in Arbitration Against Sovereigns”, will address the leading developments in investor-state and state-to-state arbitration. Dr. Freya Baetens, a professor at the University of Leiden, will discuss the current European Union investment treaty program. Mark Feldman, a professor at the Peking School of Transnational Law, will address the proposed investment chapter of the draft Trans-Pacific Partnership. Luis Martinez, a vice-president at ICDR, and Garth Schofield, a counsel at PCA, will discuss recent developments at their respective institutions regarding arbitration with sovereigns. David Bigge, an attorney-adviser with the U.S. Department of State, an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center and a Global Advisory Board Member of ICDR Young & International, will moderate the panel discussion. Questions and answers, and networking refreshments will follow the discussion. The event will be held in McDonough Room 201 at 7pm, and is free of charge.
