"Generating Electricity on
Commercial Rooftops with Solar Power
"

This event is FREE, but there are only 400 seats. Please RVSP online or call [masked] to reserve a seat.

In an effort to supplement messages and promote events being worked on at multiple local, state and federal levels, the Arizona Solar Power Society likes to host important conferences that discuss many complex and sometimes controversial subject matters.

The goal is not promote one strategy versus another, but to educate the general public on important issues they need to know about, such what is available now and what they might expect to happen in our state in the very near future.

From our perspective there has never been a better time to get involved in the renewable energy business, especially if you need a job. There is $185 million available right now to pay for up to 60% of solar installations from most Arizona utility companies. And the Obama administration is moving even more money into Arizona to help build a renewable energy industry here.

Suffice it to say, we know that building owners want green energy and that tenants want to consume it; and both the environment, the nation and solar installation companies will benefit as Arizona makes the move to solar power.

This event will inform property managers, building owners, shopping malls, strip malls, apartment complexes, office complexes, warehouses and other large retail outlets on possible options and incentives that will make it possible to generate solar electricity and market it to tenants on their premises.

People who should attend this conference include commercial builders, architects, building owners, building managers, property management companies, etc., who want to build solar systems on their rooftops.

We are also targeting commercial solar installers, solar engineers, solar electrical contractors, solar PPA providers, concentrated solar power firms, etc., that would be interested in marketing their solar installation services to commercial building owners.

Mayors, town council members, chambers of commerce and economic developers in Cave Creek, Chandler, Fountain Hills, Gilbert, Glendale, Mesa, Paradise Valley, Peoria, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe will meet solar installation companies that can install solar systems on their public buildings and schools.

The event is being held at one of the most pristine resorts in Arizona, the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch, which made headlines recently by installing one of the large solar thermal hot watering heating systems in Arizona.

The list of guest speakers:
***********************

  • Michael Stephens, Hyatt - The Hyatt will talk about the cost savings achieved with their recent installation of the largest solar thermal water heating system in Arizona.

  • Jane Pater, Summit Blue - Summit Blue will open up the conference with a thorough analysis of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and how it will affect Arizona.

  • Tony Tewelis, APS - APS will focus on renewable energy incentive packages for commercial building facilities and Power Purchase Agreements (PPA).

  • Kim Fitts, SKY Engineering - SKY Engineering will focus on how commercial building owners can build 50 kW system or larger systems on commercial rooftops to create a renewable energy power plant that makes it possible to produce free, clean solar power.

  • Ryan Hurley, Rose Law Group - Rose Law Group will focus on environment evaluations, permitting and developing long-term, profitable power purchase agreements for commercial and third-party utility scale solar farms and concentrating power plants.

  • Sam Keller, Recurrent Energy - Recurrent Energy will focus on financing commercial distributed solar rooftop power plants.

  • Brian Rasmussen, BrightSource Energy - BrightSource will focus designing and building large scale solar plants that deliver low-cost solar energy in the form of steam and/or electricity, at prices competitive with fossil fuels, to industrial and utility customers worldwide.

We will have 10 tables available to solar resellers, solar installers and other solar service companies. Sponsors can purchase and table and all money will be used for the facility rental and marketing for the event.

This was an outstanding event. The knowledge regarding creative financing, power purchase agreements, solar service agreements and lease finance packages was very informative. The information on the Amercian Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 stimulus package and the Arizona utility incentive programs was extremely beneficial for commercial businesses that want to install solar power on shopping malls, warehouses, apartment complex, retail outlets, convention centers, stadiums and parking lot garages.

This was very interesting, more for the commercial building side of Solar, I am still looking forward to future sessions with Residential Solar installation and classes for installing, planning etc.

Enjoyed the meeting. Would have liked to have an option to get a copy of the presentations...either in hard of soft (preferable) copy.

The most relevant information for my company was the government grant money session. I would be very interested in more information as it becomes available.

I would support this Industry in Arizona, as I have supported a handful of companies in California.

great place to meet and a very good mix of speakers. The topic was very relevant to the type of business we are trying to market. A lot of good info on the topic.

There was some good information shared about some of the government incentives for solar energy, but I came away with little info that helps me develop a business plan for a new business. I am not a commercial property owner, so the lower end of PPA's don't help me, and I don't have millions of capital to invest so the utility scale PPA's are not an interest either. At the end of the day, it was worthwhile, but just not the info that I was hoping for to meet my particular needs. Thanks for setting it up.

Thanks Robert for making it available online. I got booted from the presentation as the attorney came on to present and I was not able to reconnect online. I enjoyed what I was able to see. Will the presentation be available to review after. Appreciate your efforts with the ASPS. Shawn
