Enjoy Ricky Nye & The New Orleans Jazz at Washington Platform Saloon

Let's expand our musical horizons with an evening of dining, drinking and listening to Cincinnati institution blues man Ricky Nye with The New Orleans Jazz. I've already reserved a table in the Canal Room where the band is playing.

The Musicians: Ricky Nye and The New Orleans Jazz

Place: Canal Room in the Washington Platform Saloon, just around the corner from the Music Hall.

Cost: $10 food and beverage minimum

Time:  The band starts playing around 9 pm to midnight.  I'll be there at 8:30 pm and will have dinner there. I hope people will join me.

Parking: Free parking after 5 pm in Court Street Center, directly across Elm Street.  Here is what the Washington Park Garage manager told me (The garage is at 1230 Elm St., right across from the entrance to the Music Hall.)  "There is a CSO Performance going on at Music Hall that we will be at a $10.00 rate from 5p-8p.It is very hard to say whether or not we will have additional parking after the symphony performance starts as we do normally reach capacity for the majority of Music Hall events. In the event that we are not, we will be going to a $3.00 flat rate after 8 pm.  The price for parking from 8:15p to midnight would be a flat rate of $3.00. Unfortunately I cannot guarantee whether or not we will have parking spaces by that time, but those will be the prices we will be at for the day."

Dancing: Not this time. I checked with the staff, and this is a "performance only" event.

Accessibility: The Canal Room is on the first floor and is fully wheelchair-accessible.

Colleen, Thank you again for organizing a special evening for our Meetup friends. Hope you get tickets to Ricky's Blue/Boogie Fest. I'll be going both nights with my son - been going for years! Karen

Just wanted you to know that I was on my way downtown and was in a fender bender. Except the person who hit me became extremely angry and cursed and threatened me so I was afraid to leave and it upset me and kind of ruined the night for me, so I had to miss the big night out! I'll bet it ia a good one.

Also, may I ask people to start verifying their attendance, if possible? It makes it easier for the Washington Platform Saloon to give our group the best service possible. Thanks, everyone.

Would have loved to attend, but I have out of town company in for Oktoberfest. Looks like it will be beer, brats and polkas instead of jazz. Heads up -- parking might be a little tight that evening because of the Oktoberfest crowds, even up close to Central Parkway where the Platform is.

Thanks; that's always nice to hear. I remember you were part of a small group who attended a last-minute post I put up for Mansion Hill. We were small in number at that one, but we had a great time. It will be good to see you again.

Thanks for your encouragement, Karen. I really enjoy hosting these and my hope is that members find these events easy to locate, welcoming, and enjoyable ways meet a diversity of people who enjoy all kinds of music. (Although sometimes, I think I need to find a Hosts Anonymous meeting; I tend to organize the heck out of events because I try so hard to ensure that everyone feels welcomed.)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
