2013 Frieze New York Art Fair

Frieze New York is a new contemporary art fair that will take place on 10-13 May 2013 on Randall’s Island. This is the second year the Frieze art fair is held in New York. Our group attended last year and it was great.

We will meet in front of the entrance to the fair's tent, on Randall's Island.

There are no promotional codes, and we will buy tickets on-site, group rate is $26 (regular price $42).

Please do not be late, you will not be able to get group rate if you are not with the group. My phone number is[masked]-0586.

For transportation options, see Frieze website. Be aware that last year bus shuttle or ferry were included in the price of admission, but this year it is separate, and tickets have to be purchased in advance. Public transportation option is M35 bus.

Frieze New York presents the most forward-thinking galleries from around the globe, bringing an international focus to the dynamic contemporary art scene in New York.

In addition to being able to see work by over 1,000 of the world’s leading artists, visitors can experience Frieze Projects, the fair’s program of artists’ commissions, and Frieze Talks, a program of debates, panel discussions and keynote lectures.

Frieze New York is housed in a bespoke temporary structure designed by New York-based SO-IL architects. Located in the unique setting of Randall’s Island Park and overlooking the East River, the fair is accessible by public transport and dedicated Frieze ferry and bus services.

I went yesterday and for those for whom this matters, there is a big labor protest at the site because Frieze is the only major art show to refuse to use local union labor for setting up their site. They brought in a non-union outfit and have been denounced by both union and political leaders in the city-- as well as many of the artists at the show.
