Judging by the number of RSVPs, there is a lot of excitement about Frieze Art Fair. The fair will be open from 12pm to 7pm and we will meet at 12pm at the fair, on Randall’s Island.
You can get to be fair by Frieze ferry service that runs every 15 minutes from 35th Street on the East River and takes 20 minutes. Or you can take 4, 5 or 6 subway to 125th Street and find the Frieze yellow school buses on 3rd Avenue between 125th and 126th St, which takes 7 minutes from 125th Street.
There are North and South entrances to the fair; ferry drop-off is closer to the North entrance (and perhaps bus too). There is a sculpture park (open to the public) between the fair tents and the river. We will meet in this sculpture park, near the North entrance, at 12pm.
At the fair, there will be 2 talks: “New Geographies of Contemporary Art” at 3:00pm, the panel looks at ethics and relativism in an international art world as new geographies expand the debate contributing values, agendas and beliefs, and at 5pm Rick Moody, writer, journalist and essayist, as well as songwriter and musician, reads from his literary composition realized for Frieze Projects, describing the adventures of an undependable GPS.
The tickets to Frieze New York must be purchased online before the event. The regular admission price is $40, but we will take advantage of 2-for-1 promotion for half price tickets. The details are sent to members who RSVP’d.
