Hello ArtForward members,

The cloudless skies of the fall have arrived, and there are lots of exciting things happening with the art world. Please stay tuned as ArtForward will be announcing two special events in October!

Fourth Arts Block will be hosting a Block Party this Saturday, September 26, 2009. Outdoor fun with gourmet food vendors, flea market, and classes will begin at 11:00am-5:00pm. There will also be a plethora of activities happening indoors from 3:00pm-7:00pm. Please visit: for more details.

I hope you are supporting the local galleries that have weathered the summer doldrums by attending their openings, buzzing about your favorite pieces, artists and curators and or pumping some dollars into the economy by acquiring pieces.

An interesting member from our group has contacted me recently about his position. He was laid off last year and has been looking for alternate ways to finance his life in The Big Apple. An artist by the name of Elanit Kayne has organized an international art show in association with Chashama and Frank Shifreen, founder of the Gowanus Art Canal Project, in which she invites people from various industries to come help sell art. It is a strategy that is becoming more popular in that artists need to be paid for their time and talent. Joseph Gasper is one of those individuals who have been laid off that can explore their passion as an art advocate.

Please come by the exhibition space tonight, here are the details:

Monday, September 21, 2009 / 11:00am-7:00pm
679 3rd Avenue (corner of 43rd street)

For more information about the project, please visit

Look forward to seeing you all soon!
