Curator: Sung-Hee Son

Bleicher/Golightly is pleased to present the solo exhibition of new ceramic sculptures and paintings by Linda Smith. Using the motifs of figures and heads of both humans and animals, Linda conveys the conditions of life through her expressive and vividly colored works. In this recent body of work she celebrates feminine love and beauty through a budding new series paying homage to the Greek goddess Aphrodite. The compositions are familiar from well known classical works but the bright colors and whimsical interpretations are distinctly Linda Smith.

Linda also continues themes drawn from her daily life, relationships with people and animals, working organically from her subconscious, and commenting on the world around her. Her subjects, like her style and technique are direct and charmingly playful, meanwhile there is always depth through subtleties in things like the look in the eyes or figurative gestures.

We hope you can join us in discovering and enjoying this bold new body of work by Linda Smith.
