War Witch: Oscar-nominated Foreign Film at National Geographic (Ticket required)

Global Glimpses, National Geographic's showings of all 5 Oscar-nominated foreign films returns in February over President's Day Weekend.  They really do it up right - each film either follows or precedes a reception, all for a very reasonable price.  I'm going to list all five films because you can buy the series for just $41.  You can also buy each film individually for $9 each.  Click here to purchase tickets.

Most likely all films will sell out. War Witch looks facinating. In a war-torn central African nation, a twelve-year-old girl is abducted from her village and forced to fight as a child soldier. Over the course of two years, Komona endures a brutal and horrific existence that will damage her irrevocably. (Canada, 90 min)  War Witch won Best Actress (Rachel Mwanza) and Best Narrative Feature awards at the Tribeca Film Festival.  A reception follows the film at 6.

Again, this film will sell out  You can click here to buy a ticket for just this or the entire series.  National Geographic is very easy to get to, just a couple blocks from the Metro or they have free underground parking.

Look forward to seeing everyone today. I'll be in the lobby at 4 pm if you want to gather before going in. Otherwise, we will meet in the reception following the film - have been trying to gather people in the back. I'll have my sign and my # is[masked]

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
