The Washington DCJCC does a great year-round job of film programming thanks to Ilya and Sara. I was sorry to miss the film Brave Miss World at a documentary festival earlier this year and am happy to have another chance. It's a tough subject - rape - but reviews have praised its handling of it.
"Linor Abargil, an Israeli beauty queen who became Miss World, has a bittersweet tale. But she is a woman of valor whose strength and inner beauty provides a far more substantial life lesson than do most fairy tales about beauty pageants. Find out when "Brave Miss World" is playing near you and go and see it." The film is from Israel, South Africa and Italy and is directed by Cecilia Peck, I believe the daughter of Gregory Peck.
The DCJCC has discounted tickets for us. Go to this link, click on Buy Tickets, and select the Bike and Brunch option for $9. The film starts at 7:30.
We'll meet at nearby Tortilla Coast for Happy Hour/Dinner before, and then perhaps there will be a short reception after the film to talk about this important topic. They may also have a guest from the film.
