Dupont Circle Art Walk - New York Reflections and Scenic Oil Paintings

  • Jan 3, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • Q Street Fine Art

ArtHouse welcomes in the new year with a sort-of gallery walk.  Barbara Bennett graciously hosts people every First Friday in her lovely apartment - we've had to bypass there the last couple times (due to time constraints), so let's start there this time.  She has a great new show of paintings up by Peter Heywood that I got to preview last month and they're very cool - reflections of buildings in New York.  I believe he will be there.

I put 6:00 so maybe we can get a little more in, but if you have to join us a little after, that's fine.   We will stay at Barbara's for at least an hour - so it will be a nice chance to socialize with some wine and cheese (and maybe more - she's very generous). I know that Foundry is open so we will definitely head there and hopefully one or two others. We'll probably head to Peri Peri Chicken for dinner - they have a great room for us that makes it very easy and social.

As always, on our Gallery Walks, we are very appreciative of the generosity of the gallery owners. This is a commercial enterprise and many of the works are affordable, so please come with an open mind and a certain seriousness about what we will see. I will definitely ask you for a dollar or two because I will bring a couple bottles of wine to Barbara's place.  It's the least we can do for her.

The Dupont Circle North Metro exit is 1 block away from our start.  Parking opens up at 6:30 on Florida or Mass.

Thank you, Ronn. I had a great time and bought a painting that is going to look great in my apartment. I stopped by Barbara's place on Sunday to drop off the check, and once the exhibition is over I will go pick it up. I also met a very nice person who I hope to connect with again soon.

It's wonderful here. Just be careful coming up walk - a little icy.

I'm sad that I'll have to pass as well. The roads in my development are nasty.

Hi! Considering the weather, would it be possible to postpone this event until next week?

I'm going to drop out of this event. It's going to be too cold to be traipsing around Dupont Circle. Hope everyone has a great time! I'll keep an eye out for future events.

I look forward to seeing folks this evening. Just come to 2nd floor of 2015 Q St. when you can. My number if you need to text is 703.338.7494. We'll just relax and socialize there, and take in the new art show. At about 7:15, the plan would be to head to the Foundry Gallery, and then dinner at 8. May perhaps get one more gallery in, but on this kind of night much better to find 1 or 2 nice places and just enjoy them. If you can't make it, no worries. Just cancel and we'll see you next time.

Depending on the snow and wind chill, I might not show up. I will change my RSVP if I don't go.

I have tutoring in Woodbridge, VA from 4:30 to 6 on Friday. How late would I be allowed to be?

Thank you, thank you. Excited to join the group and look forward to sharing the Washington art scene with like minded art lovers .

What can I bring besides money to contribute to our hostess generosity ?

Hi Catherine, that is very kind of you. I think either a bottle of wine or an interesting food item. Barbara seems very meticulous with what she puts out. But again, a couple dollars is fine as well.

I may go to another event first, so I will likely come later. Thanks, Ronn for organizing!
