I'm one of the no shows and apologize. I also am a member of a few meetups and they have this policy of 3 no-shows = you're out..I like it. I think accountability is good. I get to benefit off Ronns efforts and think I owe it to be respectful of the group.

Keep up the good work Ronn,

I hope to see everyone at ice skating.

I belong to other Meetups, and I can assure you that there is the same problem. Some meetups are packed, others people don't show up even if they registered. There is a variety of reasons, but most frequently the more ahead of time is the invitation, the higher are the chances of people not showing up. One suggestion would be to have some rules of engagement: e.g. "3 no shows" and member will be cancelled from the group.

I'm trying to start a meetup group myself in my community and it hadn't occurred to me that this sort of thing might happen. Good for you for the message you sent. Hope it helps. Good manners seem to be going by the wayside.

No one's getting evicted or publicly flogged or anything, it's just disrespectful to me and the people who do come (and expect a crowd). It's not nice.
