In the House (dir. F. Ozon, 2012)

Join us at 3.45 pm for the 4.00 pm. showing of this 2012 film by François Ozon, with Fabrice Luchini, Kirstin Scott Thomas, and Ernst Umhauer.

16 year old Claude (Umhauer) befriends one of his classmates and begins writing stories about his friend’s family. Impressed with the writing of this unusual and gifted student, his jaded tutor (Luchini) rediscovers a passion for teaching and begins advising him on how to make them better. However, the student’s stories spark a series of uncontrollable events that will change the lives of everyone involved. In the House premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival where it was awarded the Prize of the International Critics for Special Presentations. The film was also awarded the Golden Shell prize at the San Sebastian International Film Festival with Ozon winning the Jury Prize for best screenplay.

Advance booking is recommended via the Ciné Lumière website:

We’ll meet just inside the entrance, near the box office.  In case of any difficulty, my mobile is[masked] 9995.

Look forward to seeing you there –

Please note that there is a £2 charge for non-subscribers to attend our meetups: please pay this to your host on the day. To avoid this, please pay the annual subscription (£3.30), using the Pay Online button on the website, by midnight on the day before the meetup.

Very good. Your grip on 'reality' within the film and narrative breaks down in a fascinating story. Sort of a simple idea - but a complex and layered outcome. Great cast.

Ozon has been my favourite director for years!! I have been slightly weary of his recent change in direction but cant wait to be in a cinema again to see his work!!

OK - thanks Brad. May be able to make the odd Sun, but otherwise will look out for those exceptions.

Mick - I'm afraid that, with very rare exceptions, we usually meet on Sundays, as this seems to be the day that's most convenient for the majority of our members.

Hello. Just joined and apols for barging in on the conversation, but do you meet up on other days? Sundays are tricky. Thanks
