The Tenant Polanski, Cine Lumiere

Join us for the 2pm screening of Polanski's classic, The Tenant.

Director Roman Polanski casts himself in the lead of the psychological thrillerThe Tenant, a Kafkaesque male version of Repulsion, filled with urban paranoia, hints of the supernatural and bizarre coincidences. Trelkovsky (Polanski) rents an apartment in a spooky old residential building, where his neighbors – mostly old recluses – eye him with suspicious contempt. Upon discovering that the apartment’s previous tenant, a beautiful young woman, jumped from the window in a suicide attempt, Trelkovsky begins obsessing over the dead woman. Growing increasingly paranoid, he convinces himself that his neighbors plan to kill him. He even comes to the conclusion that Stella (Isabelle Adjani), the woman he has fallen in love with, is in on the ‘plot’.

Reading some of the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes it seems I am not the only person to think this film was a melodrama that lacked insight and credibility. :-)

Always good to see you Rosemary! Whatever you do don't start painting hieroglyphics in your toilet :-)

At the risk of morphing into The Tenant I was just wondering why it is never "good to see me" on the occasions I attend this meet-up?
