This should be tough in 1000 characters! My all time favourite art house director is Fellini... if you can call him 'art house'. My top films by him would be 8 1/2, La Strada and Amarcord but I really love everything he did up till the end of the 1960s. Jodorowsky's 'El Topo' is another favourite of mine though I feel in general his films are hit-and-miss.... i.e. loved Holy Mountain but wasn't a fan of Santa Sangre! David Lynch is one of my favourites, though prefer his 80s work to the likes of Inland Empire and Mulholland Drive (which I still enjoyed immensely...)
I love the 'purity' and truthfulness of art house cinema. I guess I'm over-generalising as films in the art house bracket are extremely different to each other. I love a film that can impact your own philosophy without being overly authoritarian in its approach.
I found out about the group directly through the meetup page, by searching for cinema groups around London. :-)
Hello. I'm Stephen, and I absolutely LOVE art house cinema, and film in general. I'm looking to watch more films (whether classic or modern) as well as make friends who share my interest.
