Hi. My name is Robert (pronounced "Robaire"). I'm just looking to meet up occasionally with fun, smart, culturally aware, like-minded people to do things with. I'm a lawyer by day; an entertainer; writer; and student of Western Intellectual History.
arts and entertainment; live music; live theatre; thoughtful conversation; literature.
This was my first Arts & Culture Ottawa event. Sorry I didn't get to meet more of you. That sin of omission will be corrected in the coming events.
It is nice to meet you and thanks for accepting me in the group you created. I have the willingness to participate as that would be possible. I would love to prepare and participate in your group in a debate on Marcus Aurelius writings, especially on the subject of “reasonable soul”, as set in the 11th Book of the “Meditations”.
Thanks for approving my request to join the group, Robert. Looking forward to getting together. I will probably be out of town for the first meeting. Best, Sigrid

Generally, God is pure love. Most people's understanding of love contains flaws. So is our expression of love. God knew that so He sent us here to improve our understanding of Him, that is, what to understand what pure love is. Practicing love and helping others normally helps us understand better. Does this explanation strike a chord?
Are you sure you came very close to losing your faith? How sure?
Another approach is, "Do you want to believe?" Both believing and not believing have consequences. Faith in a Loving God, ever watchful over all lives, with tremendous concern, patience, tolerance and duty for each life, can tip the balance in a person's favour. The book, "The Third Man Factor" by John Geiger offers valid evidence. Faith is born of knowledge and experience.
