The Asatru and Urglaawe Meetup Group (originally the Philadelphia Area Asatru and Urglaawe Meetup Group) was established to bring together adherents of the traditional Teutonic religion (known as Asatru, Urglaawe, Heathenism, Odinism, Theodism, or Irminenschaft, among other names). We honor the pantheon of Germanic/Norse deities and pursue our ancestral spirituality in the context of the modern world.
The Meetup Group is dedicated to the development of community and of frith, and therefore welcomes to our social meetups all adherents of Asatru, Urglaawe, and related paths (as well as those respectful of us and our faith), regardless of race, color, sexual orientation, or gender, etc. The goal is to create an atmosphere that welcomes development and the spiritual growth and inclusion of all Heathens, including families with children, who will be the future of the faith.
While ultimately there are as many ways as there are people to pay homage to the gods and goddesses, we seek to develop contacts and to network and ultimately to form local, interacting hearths, kindreds, and/or Hofs based on our shared faith. While we certainly welcome interaction with members of other faiths, ultimately we are loyal to the Aesir/Ase and the Vanir/Wane.
We call upon all gods and goddesses equally, in the appropriate situations, and we strive to develop better relationships with all in the pantheon, including lesser-known gods, goddesses, wights, etc., who may be eager to reveal more about themselves to us.
Our meetups consist of either purely social events or of events with rites or rituals associated with them. We welcome folks to join us for any of the announced purely social events. Also, our Organizers and many of our members are frequently able to set up individual or smaller meetups to become acquainted with interested parties prior to events with rituals.
Thank you for visiting our Meetup Group site!
