Five year anniversary party! (Pot Luck)

  • May 4, 2013 · 11:00 AM

It's been five years and now it's time to party!

Come join your fellow hikers on Saturday May 4th for the Asheville Hiking Group's FIFTH year party! We are heading to a private lodge located on private land!

This is a pot luck event, so bring your best goodies to share and an appetite!

Carpooling is highly suggested!
Each carpool will leave 20 minutes after scheduled meeting time.

People close to Asheville should meet at the Ingles on Long Shoals Road at 11:00am to meetup with Ben Fizpatrick and Anna Marie.

Directions to the party site! (at least and hour drive)

People close to Brevard should meet at the Bi-Lo's in Pisgah Forest at 11:30 am to meetup with Craig deCastrique.

Directions to the party site! (at least a thirty minute drive)

The lodge has power, picnic tables, and restrooms. There is a small lake for swimming, and a nice waterfall nearby.

Things you will need to bring:

  • Yourself
  • Camp Chair
  • Your pot luck food and serving utensils

If you don't want to cook, things like soda, watermelon, ect work too!

  • Swimsuit and towels if you want to cool off in the lake or waterfall
  • Carpool Gas Money
  • BYOB!

Things you don't have to worry about:

  • Plates, paper towels, forks, spoons, knifes, and cups.

Well behaved dogs are okay. Please bring a leash anyway. You need to keep after your pet, and pick up after them, especially if they are off leash with as many people as we will have at this location.

No camping permitted...

Donna = So sorry to hear this happened. The gate was to be open, but would not stay open, so we texted the gate code to those who carpooled. My number was given in the comments below with the directions. I'm sorry you didn't give someone a call. We would have loved to have to with us.

    Hi Everyone,
I recently moved back to the Asheville area, and would like to begin attending some of the events offered with this group.
Does anyone have any suggestions pertaining to taking hikes with children? I have a 9 year old son, I am now homeschooling, and would like to spend more time with in nature, while exercising our bodies!

    Smiles.

You may want try the WNC Easy Hikers & Walkers group (http://www.meetup.com...). I have a 10-yr old girl so often I have to miss some interested hikes/walks, and the leader Ron told me that I can bring my daughter with me, although I haven't seen any child on the hikes I had been to so far. The home-school may also have activities.

Hey Guys! Even though there is no address, you will be turning into Round Mountain Falls development - gate will be open. Drive straight in on Abby Falls Road. You will see cars, or sign on your right for Lodge and Abby Falls. See you there!

280 from Asheville to 64 West towards Cashiers. Just past the Headwaters Outfitters about 1/2-1 mile, turn left on Frozen Creek Rd (you will see a blue building - M&M Grading). Go 5 miles on Frozen Creek and it deadends into Old Toxaway. Take a right on Old Toxaway - go 1 mile. Entrance to Round Mountain Falls is on the left. Turn in, the gate will be open, and go straight to a sign that says - Lodge/Abby Falls. Park along the road since the parking lot will be full I'm sure. You will see the cars. Feel free to call Eric or me -[masked] if you have problems. Perfect Verizon cell service at the place.

I signed up for AHG hike in Grayson Highlands on this day because of the wait list in for the party , so I am unavailable for the pot luck.
