This is a two hike event for beginners and those who are not sure about distance and difficulty of hikes. We will start at the Art Loeb Trailhead parking lot (At Davidson River campground off 276) and do the the Sycamore Cove Trail, a 3.8 mile loop with 600 ft elevation gain. I would rate as easy to moderate. We will then drive up 276 to the Coontree picnic area, have lunch (should be at picnic area by 12:00 or so) and then do the Coontree Trail, another 3.8 miles with 1,000+ elevation change. I would rate moderate to some segments of uphill which I would rate as difficult - not much though. You can do either or both hikes - just let me know and make sure if you are carpooling that those in your car are doing same thing. Both hikes will total 7.6 miles for the day.
Meet up at Ingles - 863 Brevard Road. Be there at 9:45, we leave at 10:00 sharp. Or at the Davidson River Campground/Art Loeb Trailhead parking lot - should be enough spots for parking - 10:30. Let me know if you are meeting up at the trailhead.
While open to anyone, prefer to give spots to new hikers or those that are looking for a shorter hike option.
If a lot of people sign up, I may repeat hikes on Sunday as well.
PLEASE do not click on NOT ATTENDING if you are not going...I get email everytime someone says they are not going...getting to be quite a few now. Thanks - Craig
