We’re looking for several graphic artists to compete in a t-shirt design contest.
In order to get an idea for how many people are involved, please RSVP to this meetup if you plan on participating.
The submissions will be voted on by our members and the winner will be announced at our 5 year anniversary party on May 4th 2013.
We want fun and original submissions. Before you ask, innuendo is fine but please avoid profanity (unless it’s REALLY funny) in your submission. All submissions must adhere to Meetup.com and Facebook’s “Community Standards”. All submissions must have the words “The Asheville Hiking Group” on it somewhere. Designs may include text and graphics but not photographs and must be submitted in an epf format.
As we are working to become a non-profit, we are working on getting sponsors for this contest and will update them as details become available.
The winner will have their name or company name on the bottom of the logo they design and their logo and contact info printed on the back of the shirt along with the other sponsors. In addition to sponsor provided prizes, the winner will also receive a free print of their shirt in the color that they request.
Who – Anyone is allowed to submit an entry. Membership to The Asheville Hiking Group is not required for submission and membership status will not be taken into consideration during the voting process.
What – T-shirt submission format must be in an epf format and use a maximum of 4 colors.
When – Submissions must be entered within the two submission periods which end at 11:59 PM on 4-1-2013. Voting begins on[masked] and will end on May-1-2013. The winner will be announced at The Asheville Hiking Group’s 5 year Anniversary Party and will be posted online on the Asheville Hiking Group’s Facebook and Meetup pages.
Where – Submit your designs to [masked] with the subject line of: “AHG Dry T-Shirt contest submission”. Multiple submissions per person are allowed. All submissions must be no larger than 5 MB.
Why – The Asheville Hiking Group is currently working on becoming a 501c3 non-profit corporation and we need to raise money for the fees involved in the process. We are currently selling bumper stickers and will offer these shirts for sale as well.
By submitting your design, you guarantee that you are the sole owner of the work submitted, it does not infringe on anyone else's rights and grant The Asheville Hiking Group permission to use the design to promote the group.
You must incorporate the words “The Asheville Hiking Group” into your design
Designs may include line art and text but no photographs.
Your design is for the front of the shirt and may encompass an area up to 10″ x 10″.
Design may use a maximum of four colors.
The design must be your own original, unpublished work and must not include any third-party logos or copyrighted material. By entering the competition, you agree that your submission is your own work.

The Fine Print
- The Asheville Hiking Group reserves the right to make changes to the winning design before printing, including changes in image size or ink color or t-shirt color.
- By submitting your design, you grant permission for your design to be used by The Asheville Hiking Group including, but not limited to, the Asheville Hiking Group’s Meetup website, The Asheville Hiking Group’s Facebook page, and future marketing materials.
