Waterfall Hunting & Photography in Cashiers (4 Falls)

  • March 10, 2013 · 9:00 AM

Let’s go photograph some waterfalls in Cashier’s.

I would like to go see the following waterfalls:

Approximate hike distances at each falls:

  • Silver Slip = ~1 mile total (RT).
  • Silver Run = ~500 yards (RT).
  • Upper Silver Run = ~600 yards (RT).
  • Scotsman Creek = ~0.5 mile (RT).

Things to bring:

  • Your camera (DSLR preferred).
  • Tripod (highly recommended !).
  • Snacks & water.
  • Dogs are allowed (Please keep them under control at the falls, no photo-bombing please !!!)

Plan on this being an all day event, so if you have any late afternoon engagements, then please don't sign up for this event. I don't know when we will be back.

I have a 20 yr old student from France living with us who would like activities with other young people to help with her English and to enjoy the outdoors. Are there hiking or exploring groups in her age group?

I had a wonderful day. Thank you Ken, Tracey, and Baxter for leading the way! The beauty of the falls was undeniable. The beauty of the group was the blessing of the day for me. Thank you for the memories!

Thank you all for attending. It was a beautiful day to be outdoors. And thanks for putting up with the last trek down to Scotsman Creek Falls, it was worth it ! A big thanks goes out to Sawako for helping to locate the path down to the last falls and to Darlene for showing us the gorgeous water mill at the country club, would've never known about it.

I am so sorry. When I checked last night before going to bed I was still on the waiting list. I'm not sure what time I was confirmed for the hike. I feel terrible for not seeing it and taking a space on the hike with out showing up.

As of Sunday morning, the list is showing 6 slots available, so apparently you did not take a "needed" slot. It is surprising at how many decide "not to go" at the "last minute" -- or simply do not show up after being confirmed for several days. If you are on a waiting list, have your bags packed and ready-to-go -- and then check the morning of the event. You could be surprised at the dynamics that occur in the last 12-18 hours. I suspect that the change to daylight saving time may have been a factor in regard to this event. Interesting, hospitals report a surge in heart attacks during the first few days after the change.

Very interested in this hiking trip, but have decided to wait until the weather is a little warmer. Forecast is for 10 MPH wind and a temperature of around 50-55 degrees.
