Panthertown Valley Wilderness Falls Trail Reroute Workday

This is a cross posting for the Friends of Panthertown Valley. I will not be able to attend but this is a great opportunity for our members to help with some trail work.

The next volunteer opportunity in Panthertown Valley will be on Saturday, March 23. Volunteers will come in from the western entrance to Panthertown Valley at the Salt Rock Gap trailhead at the end of Breedlove Road in Cashiers, NC.

We'll be working on re-routing the popular Wilderness Falls Trail to make for easier access to the waterfall below.

REI Asheville is providing some cool give-aways for those who show up, plus each volunteer gets entered into a drawing to win some awesome camping gear!

Volunteering is a lot of fun and all are welcome to participate. Volunteers will meet at the Salt Rock Gap trail-head at 9:30 a.m. and then hike in to help maintain nearby trails on the western side of Panthertown Valley. Trail tools and instructions will be provided and new volunteers are always welcome.

Join us in “the Yosemite of the East” for a fun day of giving back to this very special place we all enjoy. There will be spring wildflowers starting to bloom and a great opportunity to enjoy Panthertown with other Friends! Trail volunteers are asked to pack a lunch, bring plenty of water, wear good shoes, and bring a pair of work gloves and pruners if you have them (we’ll also have some to loan out). We expect to hike less than 5 miles on easy to moderate trails and be finished by 3 p.m. We hope you will join us!

Our volunteers come from throughout the region to enjoy a day in the backcountry working with other hikers, mountain bikers, rock climbers, scouts, equestrians, and nature lovers. We always welcome new volunteers. Tools are provided and our trail days are a great way to give back to Panthertown.

If anyone is attending from the Asheville area, I will be driving and would be glad to carpool. Post a reply here or message me via meetup.

I am not going to be able to attend. I'd suggest setting up a carpool from REI or try posting on the referenced Facebook page about carpooling. :) Thanks for volunteering!

Let me know also about carpooling and if there is anything else I need to bring. Thanks for the opportunity to give back!
