Join me on a one night backpacking trip in Great Smoky Mountain National Park from Big Creek Campground to campsite 37 in Great Smoky Mountain National Park.  This hike is rated as a "moderate" out and back and is expected to be approximately 12 miles round trip. The trail will follow Big Creek on the whole route until we reach the campground.  I have made reservations  for 5  people. Here is a link with more information about the trail. The permit cost is $4/person which I have already covered.

Experienced backpackers preferred and proper gear is required. Hopefully the weather will be kind for that weekend. Given this is intended to be a fair weather trip, an unfavorable forecast may result in postponing the trip. Since this is the Smokies, dogs are not allowed.

We will meet at the Earthfare at Westgate plaza at 8:00 AM.  It is approximately a fifty mile (one hour) drive to the trailhead. I anticipate arriving at the trailhead around 9:15-9:30 AM. We will return sometime late Sunday afternoon. We'll leave the campsite to head back to the car around noon.

Hey, going out the door had technical difficulty with my pack. I think I can be there at 8:30. Let me know, if that's too late I understand and I'll catch you on next hike. cell[masked]

With all the recent rain, Big Creek should be quite a treat this weekend.

Hi there. Glad to see the interest in the backpacking. The plan you've got won't really work for me but I'm open to ideas on other ventures this year.

I would totally go if it weren't LEAF weekend, and I'd try and get Katie to come too... hope to join in on the next one.

Thank you for setting this up, Tom. This is EXACTLY the kind of trip I would like to attend...if I wasn't already scheduled to be out of town that weekend. I hope that you will schedule another weekend trip of this sort.

    Best regards,

    Bill Whitehead

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
