RSVPs open Thursday at 8:00 PM

PLEASE NOTE I HAVE MOVED MEET UP TIME TO 8:00!!

Because of time change, shorter days and long drive to get there I am moving meet up time up to 8:00 to allow us plenty of time to enjoy this spectacular hike. May add some side trails so we get 9+ miles in. As a consolation prize for getting there for this earlier time I will have Starbucks coffee, doughnuts and bananas at Earth Fare parking lot.

This hike was done earlier in the year. See webpage for photos and comments

Please see description below. I keep a BRISK PACE - be sure of your hiking abilities but we will stop to take in the views.

This hike is WEATHER DEPENDENT so check  Friday early evening for any cancellation. Please check the forecast yourself so you can dress accordingly for the temperature...may be kinda low...

We can get dinner together after the hike if folks want to. Open to suggestions.

First time I have done this hike so flexible attitude required

Let's hike to Charlie's Bunion in Great Smoky Mountain National Park. This hike is rated as a "moderate to strenuous" out and back and is expected to be approximately 9 miles. This trail has the Smokies character with a great view at a rock outcropping called Charlie's Bunion. Mt. LeConte can be viewed to the southwest from this overlook. Please be sure of your abilities before signing up for the hike.

We will meet at Earthfare at Westgate Parkway at 8:00AM, arrange8 carpooling and depart for the trail by 8:15 It is approximately a one hour and forty-five minute drive to the trailhead. I anticipate arriving at the trailhead around 10:30.

We will break for lunch at the rocky overlook with a fantastic view so be sure to bring your favorite food and plenty of water.

For the dog lovers, I'm afraid dogs are not allowed in the Smokies.

We should be back to Newfound Gap about 4:00 PM and return to Earthfare by 6:00 PM. These are not definite times but just estimates so plan accordingly so we do not need to rush back for any appointments or other engagements.

I agree with Allen! Those trails are great even from the inside a cloud.

Only because of being fogged in the whole hike, missed some of the premeir views in the Smokys.

Great hike today except for the views. There were none as we were socked in completely. Thanks to all who came out and to Craig for organizing. Here are my hike details:

I should have gone - studying has been ineffective so far today. :(

Other than some great exercise, the views were non-existent due to fog/clouds. So maybe studying, or lack there of, was not too bad. :(

Thanks Craig for organizing this hike. Too bad the views were fogged in, but good company just the same.

Had a great day despite the socked in views. A return trip is in order when fog is not imminent. Thanks everyone!!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
